Shaun’s Latest Fashion Adventure with Fashion Stylist, Cristy Guy
The very first job that Shaun and Cristy ever worked on together was a TV show on the WE Network called “How We Met”. Since that time their careers have touched paths on many projects, but their favorite ones have always centered around fashion.
If you ask Shaun, Cristy is absolutely among the most talented fashion stylists in the Midwest. “She’s multi-talented. She can conceptualize an entire look from hair, to makeup, to every last detail of the clothing… and then actually complete each one of those tasks perfectly. She’s truly amazing.”
For this shot, Cristy was inspired by her own fascination of mixing athletic elements with other types of clothing. “I knew I had a great pair of boots that needed to be seen… then I came across this original 1970’s evening gown. It originally had big bell sleeves that I decided to remove. By removing the sleeves, the dress got an updated look and also mimicked that of a tank top which a runner might wear.
“I wanted the image to say ‘action’ which Shaun was able to achieve by the pose and by manipulating the scarf. The athletic inspired boots that I selected also suggested movement. The model is a choreographer in real life so we felt like movement would be a natural fit for her, too. In order to give an extra edge to the shot, I arrived at the Mohawk hair style.”
Shaun was very pleased with the results of Cristy’s work when the model walked onto set. “I thought, ‘Wow, this is awesome!’ and I couldn’t wait to begin working with what Cristy had created.”
Shaun and Cristy have worked together for several years and have learned how to bring out the best in each other. “He [Shaun] brings a lot to the table. He is always thinking of what can make a project better. On this shot I said I wanted to convey action and all of a sudden a wind machine appeared. Then I said something about silver and there appeared the chair. On the set, he is all business... but he brings the jokes, too. We work well with each other and push and question each other along the way which makes for a great shoot!”
