18th Street Fashion Show By Mandy Wilson This year marked the eighth anniversary for the West 18th Street Fashion Show in Kansas City and was themed “Summer at Sea.”  A total of 18 collections were showcased by superb local talent such as Andrew Hansen, Birdies, Dig It Panties, Jovana Mirabile, and Sophie & Gwendalynn. In the past, this event has brought out huge crowds and a great deal of press.  This year was no different.  Every VIP seat was taken and the standing room only crowd was jam packed from one side of the street to the other and down the entire length of the block. As the sun cooled down, the lights and the runway heated up.  The Kansas City Sea Sirens began the show, and really hip jazz beats were provided by Mark Sutherland and Friends.  It was a perfect evening for viewing the work of the most creative and cutting-edge fashion designers in Kansas City. Metro Productions and Shaun Cloud teamed up to capture all the action behind the scenes and get exclusive interviews with several of the designers.  They plan to finish and release the fashion documentary over the next couple months.
