One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.

September 11, 2001 changed the landscape of business in the United States.  I had been working steadily for a production company in Kansas City as their Studio Manager and Camera Operator.  However, on that day everything suddenly changed.  The twin towers were hit by two commercial airplanes.  Then the Pentagon was hit, and then United Flight 93 was taken down in a field in Pennsylvania as daring passengers and crew members attempted to stop the terrorists who hijacked the plane.  I’ll never forget sitting at work as I watched those events unfold.  It was one of the last days I had the opportunity to work there.

The economy declined and, as it did, many layoffs occurred.  I watched as several of my coworkers were let go.  My boss had let me know that it was only a matter of time.  Those were tough words to deal with.  I had a 15 month old daughter at home and another one on the way.  I couldn’t afford to lose my job.

But tough times call for tough decisions to be made so I put my thoughts together, organized my life, and determined that it was time to take control of my own destiny.  I left on my own before I was officially released so I could start something new.  My love for production and my desire to work behind the lens made my career path an easy choice.  I wanted to focus my energy around production so I started my first company, Scene2.

As my client base grew, I found myself doing a lot of production centered around agriculture -- especially dairy.  I had met quite a few dairy farmers during that time.  I saw how hard they worked and I learned about their incredible ethics.  The skills required to be a dairy farmer go way beyond just knowing how to milk cows.  They also have to know how to run a business, cultivate and conserve the land, fix and repair anything that breaks from water lines to large engines, and how to provide quality nutrition and care to their animals 24 hours a day / 365 days a year.  It was the herd treatment that stood out to me the most.  I was fascinated by the discovery that they all shared a deep compassion for their animals.

The one thing that seemed to be missing on every farm I visited and throughout the industry as a whole was that these farmers had no voice.  They were so focused trying to meet the daily demands of their farms that they were unable to tell their story and help teach the consumer about what they do and why it’s so important.  Most people today are so far removed from agriculture that they don’t understand or even know what takes place on a farm.  So I decided that I wanted to create a company that could be that voice.  The goal was to help tell the amazing stories to consumers about the people who produce our food.

That’s how Cowboy Media Productions was born.  Today it has grown into a full-service video production company and commercial still photography studio.

Beyond the lights and lenses, I'm also intrigued by the idea of developing myself as an entrepreneur.  One of my current ventures is the creation of Mrs. Cow Patty.  She is a fun, witty Brown Swiss cow from Kansas City.  She will produce quality clothing and accessories for her fans throughout the farm community.  She will also help provide the goodness of dairy nutrition to the undernourished.

Thank you for your interest in one or more of these brands.  My team and I are thrilled that you're visiting this site and we look forward to having the opportunity to serve you.  Please click on a logo below to find the service you're looking for.

Me with my best friend, wife, and business partner... Johannah.

As a Cinematographer and an avid reader, I've been influenced by the lives of many different people that have enriched my vision and perspective.  The most impactful thing I've learned from them is that no matter where you start in life...

The mightiest works have been accomplished by those who have kept their ability to dream great dreams.

To make anything a reality you have to let yourself dream it first. You must plant the seeds in the garden of your mind.  Be careful what you plant in your mind because -- whatever it is -- you will eventually reap the harvest.  Good thoughts will grow good things in your life.  Bad thoughts will bring bad things.  So, to have the life that you dream of, you must keep your thoughts pure, positive, organized, and focused... and then GO FOR IT.  You won't get anywhere without taking ACTION.
